UPDATED: Panama City Police Catch Prisoner Who Walked Away from Work Release Program

UPDATED: On Wednesday, at about 9:04 p.m., Bay County Sheriff's Office Warrants Investigators, Patrol Personnel, and Florida D.O.C. Investigators captured Florida D.O.C. Work Release Inmate/Fugitive Jerry Allen Mills, in Panama City.

Crime Stoppers Tips were crucial in leading Deputies to the fugitive. Mills was found hiding in a bedroom at the home of a friend after he fled from his work detail earlier Wednesday. He was arrested and charged with Escape and taken to the Bay County Jail.


The Panama City Police Department would like to inform the public of an absconded prisoner, Jerry A Mills, Jr. 30 years of age walked away from his place of employment today at approximately 11:00 A M.

Mills was an inmate at the work release facility on Highway 390. He left that facility on a bicycle and reported to work at a Panama City restaurant. When he arrived at work he called the work release program to check in, Mills then left the business and was later reported missing to the Panama City Police Department because the business is located with in the city limits.

All area law enforcement agencies have been notified and are on the look out for Mills. Mills is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch in height and weighing approximately 210 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his right forearm and left hand.
