The Club Fusion 18 Volleyball squad is making waves on the court, and making history in Bay County. The Volleyball Club is headed for the Junior National Championship this week, and until now, no other Bay County Club Volleyball team has competed for a Junior National Championship.
The squad qualified for Nationals after winning the hard fought Regional Tournament earlier this month. Sunday, the girls gathered at Mosley High for their final scrimmage before heading up to Atlanta on Wednesday. Club Fusion is made up of the Mosley High team, plus Katie Steelman from Arnold, a Southern Miss signee. The squad will take on teams from all over the country at the tournament.
"We've been working really hard on and off the court," says Steelman. "We've been working out as a team. Our practices have just been so hard. We're just really excited and blessed that we get to compete at such a high level."
"We support each other so much on and off the court," Deanna Canfield pitched in. "We give each other 100% every time we step on the floor and we sacrifice everything for each other to succeed and help us go far."
"They're not just representing Fusion or Mosley High School, they're representing Panama City," says head coach Steve Canfield. "Every volleyball player should be really proud of this team. These girls have worked incredibly hard."
The 32nd Annual USA Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships will be at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Club Fusion takes the court on June 30th for their first match against Six Pack at 3:00 Central time.
