Mark Jenkins

Mark was born and grew up in the fast growing town of Deland, Florida.

He has always loved being in front of an audience and this became apparent when he would bring the family in the living room to entertain them with a montage of saxophone and guitar performances.

He graduated from Deland High School in May 2001, after winning Mr. Deland High School by singing country music. It was in High School, where Mark anchored the school’s morning newscast, when he realized it was something he loved to do.

After leaving his home in Deland, Mark sought out the bright lights of Orlando, Florida. There he attended the University of Central Florida. He anchored, reported, and would occasionally be the weathercaster for the weekly newscast called UCF Knightly News (the Golden Knights is the mascot name). In December 2005, Mark earned his Bachelor of the Arts and graduated from UCF with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He minored in English writing.

During his off time Mark enjoys going on trips or just heading out to the beach. He enjoys everything involving the water: surfing, wake boarding, skiing, jet skiing and wants his body to get used to fishing in the deep seas. Panama City Beach is the obvious choice for his vocation and vacation destination.

Mark’s fondest memories, however, are of when he and his two older brothers and parents would embark on their annual summer cruises to the Caribbean. Everyone should be trapped on a boat with their family. It’s a chance to really get to know each other.

Mark is very excited about being in Panama City. He loves meeting new people and telling their stories. If you have any story ideas or would just like to say hi, you can email Mark at mjenkins@wmbb.com
