Tuquyen Mach joined News 13 in August 2005 as a general assignment reporter. She was promoted to weekend anchor in December 2006.
Tuquyen was born and raised in the city of Gainesville, Georgia. From the age of 12, she knew she wanted to be a journalist.
Tuquyen is a proud graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Broadcast News. She earned High Honors and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was also one of a handful of students in her year named a First Honor Graduate with a 4.00 GPA. Tuquyen was named Outstanding Broadcast News Student and given the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication's George M. Abney Award, given to the top senior in each year's graduating class.
In her time at News 13, Tuquyen has earned several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for her reporting. Most recently, Tuquyen was honored with a 2008 Florida Associated Press Award for Best Investigative Reporting for her report on Grouper Testing. You can watch that story by clicking here.
Tuquyen also covered the October 2007 trial of eight former boot camp employees charged with manslaughter in the death of a juvenile offender at the Bay County Boot Camp. After the verdict, Tuquyen also conducted an exclusive interview with the highest-ranking officer charged. News 13 won a 2008 Florida Associated Press Award for Best Continuing Coverage for the trial and the events surrounding it.
In her spare time, Tuquyen volunteers as a mentor with the Bay Education Foundation, and she serves as a member of the team development committee for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. She also enjoys going to the beach, spending time with friends, and planning her June 2009 wedding to her college sweetheart.
