Armed Robbery on Thomas Drive Leads to Five Arrests
Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call last night at about 9:30 in reference to an armed robbery that occurred at the Pop-On Convenience Store on Thomas Drive.
The clerk in the store reported that two black males had just left the store after robbing him at gunpoint. The clerk stated that a black male wearing a bright yellow t-shirt and dark ball cap had entered the store and pointed a handgun at him and demanded all the money in the register.
Another black male dressed in black and wearing a bandana over his face then entered the store with a paper bag and held it open for the cash. The two men also stole cigars and cigarettes and lighters. They made the clerk lay down on the floor and then the two men left the store heading east on foot.
A Be On the Lookout (BOLO) was issued to all law enforcement and a short time later members of the ROGUE Unit spotted a black male in a bright yellow t-shirt and dark ball cap in the parking lot of the Toy Box at 4606 Hwy 98. The man and three others with him were detained until investigators could arrive. While waiting for investigators to arrive, ROGUE Unit officers conducted a pat down on Joshua Franklin. They found a 22 Revolver handgun on his person. Another companion of Franklin’s initially fled and was recovered in a nearby motel.
