You'll probably notice a lot of plastic bags sitting by mail boxes on Saturday, May 10, 2008. It's for the national Stamp Out Hunger food drive and your help is needed.
Panhandle residents donated more than 140,000 pounds of food last year.
The National Association of Letter Carriers sponsors the food drive each year. Arthur Ness is a part of that group and appeared on News 13 This Morning on Friday. He says all food will be passed on to those in need right here in our own communities.
"Whatever is collected here stays here. We collect the food and bring it back to the local post office stations. From there its distributed to three food banks; the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and the Rescue Mission. So whatever we collect tomorrow, that evening they have in their warehouse."
If you'd like to help, just put some non-perishable food items in a bag and place it by your mailbox on Saturday.
