The USSSA World Series kicked off earlier this week, and wrapped up today as double elimination concluded. There were 32 teams at the tournament this weekend, 21 11-U teams, and 11 9-U teams. Mike Johnson, who helped run the tournament this weekend, says he notices teams come out with a different attitude as the finish line gets closer.

"The old saying is a bad day at the ballpark is a good day anywhere else. That's true for these kids. They all know right now, that every game is getting closer and closer to medals. The euphoria of medal day is really great, you're getting down to the point where you lose you go home and everybody wants to be the Champion."

The USSSA World Series for 12 and 13 year olds is this coming week. It kicks off on Monday, with over 40 teams participating.
