Jim Fowler's entrance to the E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center was met with a roar of applause, especially for those who grew up watching his show.

Debroah Keller is an avid fan of Fowler and remembers her family would sit down to watch the show.

"I only can remember that Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom stopped our household every Sunday evening. We just sat down and watched this program from beginning to end. We waited for it, we anticipated and we loved it."

Fowler was the host of "Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom" show with Marlin Perkins.

The show took viewers to the far corners of the world and studied wild animals in their natural habitats.

48 years later, Fowler continues to spread his message.

"I believe in talking with people about what's good for humanity, so it's just the natural world is very important to that." Fowler said.

Over the years Fowler has learned that by removing the fear people have of animals, more and more will be inclined to protect them and their environments.

"We have got to stop thinking that animals are dangerous to us. Why would we want to save the tigers or things in Africa if they're going to eat our kids?" Fowler added.

The E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center teaches people to love life and to strengthen the bond humans share with their environment.

"Get into it, see it, feel it and once you see and feel it, it becomes almost a natural element of your life to think about how you can make sure it is protected." Keller said.
