Early Voting Ends in the Panhandle

Posted: Updated:

Early voting is officially over and, now, attention turns to Election Day on Tuesday.

Officials at the bay county elections office have been open all week for early voting.

According to Bay County Election's Supervisor, Mark Andersen, roughly 13% of Bay County registered voters came out to cast their ballot as of this morning. Today he stressed just how important it is to get involved.

"For those folks who've seen me in the grocery store and said "I wish I would have participated in that election," well...I wish you would have too," said Andersen.

He says it's important to do your civic duty.

"…If you don't get involved, it's like you weren't really in the process to start with," Andersen added.

Andersen said this week of early voting has been good not great for Bay County.

"We've still not seen the traffic that we've seen in past elections. It was good, it was steady, could've been better, but I think there's still a lot of decisions to be made out there," said Andersen.

But certain folks have already made up their mind

"We've been thinking about it for a while," said voters Leslie and Terri Martin. They weren't afraid to share their choice.

"Romney," said Mr. Martin. "I think he's the better of the candidates."

Their choice falls in line with the major national polls focused on Florida Republican voters.

Quinnipiac, Rasmussen report and Insider Advantage all have Romney on top—with 38%, 39% and 40% of the vote, respectively.

Romney edging out speaker Gingrich, who took a fall in polls after his performance in this week's Florida debates.
