The Walton County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) today arrested Kazeric Freeman, 36, of Freeport Fla., for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
The investigation began Feb. 9 after Deputy Steve Key and Ella, a certified narcotics detection canine, conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 331 for failure to obey a traffic control device.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted after Ella alerted the deputy of the possible presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle. During the search, Deputy Key recovered what appeared to be approximately five pounds of marijuana from a cooler located in the vehicle's trunk.
Freeman was charged with one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony.
He was booked into the Walton County Jail.
