Repairs Continue on Hathaway Bridge

Posted: Updated:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is providing a weekly update on the repairs to the westbound span of the Hathaway Bridge (U.S. 98) in Bay County.

  • The concrete slabs on the wings or outer portions of Joint 13 have been removed.
  • Rebar and form placement for the overhangs has begun.
  • New concrete is scheduled to be poured into Joint 13 Friday, Feb. 10. The curing period for deck concrete is expected to last five to seven days.
  • Longitudinal tendons have been installed in the interior of the bridge to help decrease movement near the joint.

Motorists are reminded to watch obey the posted speed limit when traveling through the work zone and to watch for construction equipment and workers entering and exiting the roadway.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed spring 2012. For more Florida Department of Transportation District Three information follow us on twitter @myfdot_nwfl.
