One man is dead after a head-on collision on the Hathaway Bridge.
Panama City Police are still trying to figure out the exact circumstances of the wreck, which took place at around 12:30 a.m. However, police said the wreckage and debris indicates that an Astrovan heading towards the city crossed over the median and ran straight into a beach-bound Mitsubishi Eclipse.
The driver of the Eclipse was pronounced dead on scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the van was rushed to Bay Medical Center; his current condition isn't clear.
Police say the call came in from a driver who saw the van rolling down the bridge towards the city. But the only witness to the actual crash was a friend of the man who died in the Eclipse. She was following in a separate car, but was too shaken up to talk to police.
