Plans for the expansion of Aaron Bessant move forward on Tuesday. The Tourist Development Council recommended that the county commission grant $298,450 to proceed with the project's design phase.
In accordance with the inter-local agreement, the county agreed to provide the city of Panama City Beach with part of the funding for the project. Each time money is requested, it's the TDC's job to make recommendations to the board of county commissioners. Executive Director Dan Rowe says they've been working closely with the city to make sure the project meets the needs of the people.
"We've been working through the design with a number of potential community users, theatrical groups, the panama city pops, the sea breeze jazz festival, and other users, just to make sure that the facility meets their needs when it's built."
Rowe says he is happy with the dialogue between potential users and planners and hopes the county approves the funding at their next meeting.
