
Gulf Coast beat Faulkner State 4-3 in extra innings in game one, then 6-5 in game two. In between the double header, the Lady Dores honored late Assistant Coach Tim Cox, who passed away last May after complications from a bacterial infection.
The program revealed a banner in the outfield, as well as a bronze plaque that will be positioned outside the team's locker room. Head Coach Susan Painter saying today is a day that Coach Cox deserved.
"Tim would love every minute of this, he deserved this and it will stay here so every time we touch the field, we will think about him and know that he is watching us," she said. "For 15 years, he was here, so without him you kind of miss him. I have had several people, even umpires, ask where he is, so he deserved this day and it's for him."
