The Crestview Police Department is currently investigating a major traffic crash involving serious injury, that occurred at the intersection of South Ferdon Boulevard and Interstate 10 at around 11:45 a.m.
The three car accident resulted in an extended traffic delay as both south bound lanes of traffic were blocked for approximately 3 hours. Both south bound and north bound traffic was reduced to one lane of traffic in the north bound traffic lanes.
The three vehicles involved were a 2008 Jeep Cherokee, 1999 Chevrolet Lumina and a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. Three people were injured in the accident, the female driver and sole occupant of the Jeep Cherokee was transported by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and is listed in "Stable Condition". The male passenger of the Chevrolet Lumina was transported by helicopter to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola and is listed in "Critical Condition", and the male driver of the Chevrolet Lumina was transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center by Okaloosa EMS and is currently listed in "Serious But Stable Condition" at this time. The driver and sole occupant of the Chevrolet Silverado was uninjured during the accident.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the factors involved in the accident. Additional information will be released in regards to the accident at the conclusion of the investigation.
