Dr. Timothy Nichols from Emerald Coast Urgent Care says clinics have seen a significant rise in pink eye recently.  

Dr. Nichols explains that symptoms include:

  • a red eye
  • a gritty sensation in the eye
  • watering or discharge from the eye
  • swelling of the eye or eyelid

Treatment includes:

  • antibiotics
  • antihistamines
  • anti-inflammatory drugs

Dr. Nichols says pink eye is highly contagious.  Washing your hands and not sharing eyeglasses or other personal items is important in prevention.
