The American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program aims to help cancer patients overcome one of their biggest challenges --- finding a ride to treatment.
More volunteers are needed to fulfill the increasing need for transportation to cancer treatments.
Ken Davis has been a volunteer driver for 3 years. He helps patients like Ruby Webb, who is battling lung cancer.
"It makes me feel good to be able to give back a little bit," explains Davis.
Webb says without help, she wouldn't be able to make it to her chemo treatments.
"I moved from Arizona because my daughter lives here and they go to work everyday, and they just can't take off every day," she says.
Volunteers can drive as much or as little as they want. Even one day a month can be a big help to patients in need.
To meet the growing need for volunteers, The American Cancer Society is trying to recruit 15 new drivers in our area.
If you have the time and would like to help, you can call 1-877-901-2862 and tell them you'd like to volunteer for the Road to Recovery program.
