On Friday, at about 12:15 a.m., Panama City Beach Police Officers responded to Back Beach Road and Gardenia Street in reference to a traffic accident.
Officers arriving on scene found a 2002 black Mercedes sedan and a 1999 red Jeep Cherokee on the south shoulder of the roadway in the ditch.
The Jeep was traveling eastbound on Back Beach Road directly behind the Mercedes approaching the area of Back Beach Road and Gardenia Street.
The driver of the Mercedes slowed down to turn southbound onto Gardenia Street. The driver of the Jeep was unable to stop in time and attempted to avoid striking the Mercedes.
As the Mercedes was turning southbound, the Jeep struck the right passenger side of the vehicle. This caused the Mercedes to travel south into the ditch.
The Jeep then struck a power pole, breaking it in half, and came to a stop next to the Tuffy's parking lot. The driver of the Jeep suffered minor non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Bay Medical Center.

A wreck involving two cars, a power line, and a ditch kept Panama City Beach Police busy early Friday morning.
The crash took place in front of the Tuffy Tires on Back Beach Road, just after midnight.
According to an early report from Beach Police, a Mercedes heading East on Back Beach was slowing to turn right onto Gardenia Road, but as the Mercedes slowed, a jeep in the same lane wasn't able to slow down in time, and lost control - riding up onto the right shoulder and smashing into a power line. The Mercedes' driver also lost control and that car wound up in a roadside ditch.
Beach Police have been delayed in their investigation because the snapped power line was live and they couldn't get in close to study the scene. Meanwhile, one driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
