Stegeman Convicted of Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor

Posted: Updated:

A Bay County jury convicted Wallace Stegeman on Monday of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and transmitting material harmful to a minor.

Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Hawkins showed jurors during the half-day of testimony that Stegeman, 54, of 3026 Selma Ave., molested a girl orally and digitally twice between July 1 and Dec. 5, 2011. The girl turned 16 during that timeframe.

Stegeman also sent pornographic pictures to the girl's phone during that time. Jurors convicted him of transmitting material harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison, for those actions.

Stegeman faces up to 15 years in prison for the unlawful sexual activity charge. Sentencing was scheduled for July 16.
