Posted: Updated:

Hours after investigators left the scene tire tracks were still visible as rain can't wash away what many are calling a terrible tragedy. Maryjo Badali and Mary Birks were waiting to turn left onto Highway 79 when police say 23 year old Jonathon Dillard hit their white Acura from behind. According to police Dillard, who was driving a Chevy Blazer, hit the two woman at "full speed" sending both vehicles to opposite sides of the intersection.  Although Badali and Birks were still alive in the minutes after the crash they later died at Bay Medical Center. Police say Dillard sustained no significant injuries. An investigation is underway.

"We are going to laser map the scene and calculate his speed," said Officer Shaun Maguadog. "Then we will find out where they were coming up from, what they were doing hours before, where they were headed and why they were headed there."

Dillard is charged with two counts of D.U.I manslaughter and resisting an officer without violence.
