Bridge Closures Set in Jackson, Franklin Counties

Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday, June 18 on U.S. 98 at the Porters Bar Bridge (approximately two miles west of State Road 65) in Eastpoint. Transfield Services bridge inspectors will replace a bridge joint on the structure. Motorists can expect intermittent lane restrictions in the eastbound lanes between 8:30 a.m. and noon and in the westbound lanes from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Motorists are reminded to pay attention and use caution; traffic flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Motorists traveling in Jackson County will encounter intermittent lane closures Tuesday, June 12 through Thursday, June 14 while bridge maintenance inspectors perform routine inspections on three bridges.  Crews will work at the following locations:

  • I-10 at County Road 286 near mile marker 158, Tuesday, June 12
  • State Road 71 railroad over pass bridge, Wednesday, June 13
  • I-10 at Ocheesee Landing Road near mile marker 156, Thursday, June 14

Divers can expect alternating lane closures to take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  Motorists are reminded to pay attention and use caution when driving through the work zone.
