Marianna Man Arrested on Aggravated Assault Charges

On June 11th, 2012 at approximately 10:33 p.m., officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Jefferson St., on a Grey in color, Nissan Altima. Concerning Craig Lester.

Lester had been involved in a domestic disturbance earlier on in the day on Pearl St. Lester fled the area before Law Enforcement arrived. At approx. 9:36pm a second call was made involving Lester returning to Pearl St. and shots were fired. A Be On The lookout was given out to surrounding agencies. A short time later Lester was located by officers leaving the Winn Dixie parking lot.

A traffic stop was initiated on Jefferson St. When Lester was confronted by officers of the Marianna Police Department, Lester refused to comply with the officers commands, and after a brief struggle with Lester, the Taser had to be utilized to subdue him. During the investigation several firearms were recovered. Lester was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First appearance.

Arrestee: Craig Fitzgerald Lester
Charges: Aggravated Assault w/Firearm (Discharged); Resisting an Officer w/Violence (3 Counts); Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (3 counts); Aggravated Stalking; Discharging a Firearm in Public; Corruption by threats against public servant.
