Panama City Commissioners discussed the future of a submerged land lease at the city marina Tuesday night.
The city is looking to move forward with their plans to improve the marina and the surrounding area by bringing in shops, businesses and other commercial ventures.
But a lease for the land that the marina sits on would put restrictions on commercial development.
Since last year, the city has been working with the state to get the lease amended. They have even hired an attorney to represent the city's interests, in the hope that development can go along as planned.
"We want to clear up these issues so that as we go forward with the re-development. We'll have all those legal issues wrapped up", said Community Redevelopment Director William Whitson.
Another update on the process, including the potential cost of repairing the seawall, will be brought before the commission at the the June 24th meeting.
