Man Charged with Theft of Purse

The Panama City Police Department announces the arrest of Torey D. Calhoun, 34 years of age.

Calhoun was arrested on June 13, 2012, at approximately 12:30 a.m. and charged with Burglary. On June 12, 2012, at approximately 11:59 p.m. Panama City Police officers responded to the area of Bay Medical Center in reference to a burglary of a vehicle where a purse was stolen.

Officers and hospital security were able to locate the victim's purse near a dumpster with the contents strewn around the area. The property was returned to the victim who noticed cash and a unique novelty coin were missing from her purse. Officers located Calhoun walking near 8th St. and McArthur Av. who matched the description of a subject that was observed leaving the area of the hospital within minutes of the burglary. Through consensual contact the unique novelty coin was located in Calhoun's pocket. The victim identified the coin as the one that was in her purse.
