The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman who left two children in her car while she went inside a Destin establishment for approximately an hour and a half overnight.
A witness called the Sheriff's Office around 3:44 a.m. this morning after finding two girls, ages seven and eleven, wandering around the parking lot at AJ's Seafood and Oyster Bar on Harbor Boulevard. The youngsters were searching for 34-year old Melissa Ann Ammons of Montgomery Alabama. Deputies say Ammons left the children alone in her car while she went inside the bar to consume alcoholic beverages. She is now charged with child neglect.
When deputies got to the scene, Ammons was in her car with the two children, getting ready to leave.
