Sewage Spill Forces Advisories for Swimmers in Mexico Beach - WMBB News 13 - The Panhandle's News Leader
Swimmers are being advised to avoid a mile-long stretch of beach in Mexico Beach.
A power outage at a lift station in Mexico Beach caused a spillage of raw sewage into the Gulf.
The Bay County Health Department says an estimated 37,000 gallons of sewage went into a storm drain after the outage.
The Health Department and the City of Mexico Beach are advising against swimming from 6th Street to 13th Street.
Mexico Beach City Administrator Chris Hubbard says testing is ongoing and the advisory will be lifted when results are satisfactory.
