Bay County Tax Collector

Posted: Updated:

Peggy Brannon

I am Peggy Brannon, Bay County Tax Collector and candidate for re-election to the office of Tax Collector.  I have been in office since 1992 having been elected when Mr. Donnell Brookins retired from the position.  I have been employed with the office since 1968 and have held positions of "front line clerk" and supervisor before being elected as Tax Collector.

During my time in office I have opened a substation in Lynn Haven and moved the Beach substation to a larger facility to better serve Bay County and surrounding county residents.  I have participated in the Florida Department of Revenue program to have employees certified as Certified Florida Tax Collector Assistants.  (CFCA) Currently I have 26 employees that are certified.  I have begun an on line automated tax certificate sale streamlining the process from the manual, cumbersome process.
I am responsible not only for the collection of Property taxes in Bay County but also the issuance of tags, titles, and driver licenses.  We also handle the issuance of boat registrations and titles as well as fresh water and salt water fishing licenses and hunting licenses.
Community involvement:
Past President American Business Women's Association
Past President Exchange Club of Panama City
Member Florida Tax Collector Association
Past Member Florida Tax Collector Association Education Committee
Current Member Board of Directors of Girls Incorporated
I offer myself for re-election with the many years experience and knowledge that I have gained or as my campaign slogan states:  " Vote for experience that counts."
