Carter Hess lost his left foot and sustained other injuries when he stepped on an improvised explosive device.  Hess serves with the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan.  He is the son of State Attorney Glenn Hess.

According to Carter Hess's mother Maureen, her son faces more surgery.  She tells News 13 he is to be brought back to the U.S. hopefully by Sunday depending on results of his medical screening.  Mrs. Hess says the family looks forward to seeing Carter as he recovers at Walter Reed Medical Center.  They appreciate the prayers and support of our community.
