
The Springfield Commission held a meeting to discuss some controversial issues. First was the panhandling ordinance, Monday was its second reading and then it was voted on and passed. Mayor Walker says that this ordinance will try to stop the aggravated panhandling.
The other item on the agenda was the city attorney looking into money lost because of the BP oil spill, specifically losses on business license not renewing, and loss of water and sewage due to vacant homes. This item will not cost the city because of the contingency cost.
