Bay County, Fla. -

Dr. Timothy Nichols from Emerald Coast Urgent Care says he's been treating quite a bit of heat exhaustion lately.

Dr. Nichols says symptoms of heat exhaustion are:

  • Weakness
  • Profuse sweating
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps

Those most at risk are:

  • Infants and small children
  • Elderly
  • Obese individuals
  • People using certain medications
  • Alcohol drinkers 

Recommendations include getting out of the heat and getting hydrated.

Dr. Nichols says heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke, which can be deadly. 

Heat stroke symptoms include:

  • Confusion
  • Feeling lethargic
  • Seizure
  • Sweating stops 
  • Body temperature above 106 degrees
