School may be out for the summer but a group of students are choosing to exchange their precious vacation for the class room, or the band room. Bay High School and the Million Dollar Band are hosting the 2012 Emerald Coast Auxiliary Band Camp. Beginning July 9, 31 dancers majorettes and color guard from grades 6th through the 12th, all from a variety of schools from Bay County and surrounding counties, have come to learn leadership skills and guard techniques, baton twirling and dance.
Band director Nicholas Efstathiou says this camp is a vital tool to help the kids get ready for next school year. "THis camp is important for these young ladies to take on leadership roles in their programs for next year and it lets our staff not only interact with our girls but teach other member from around the area its the best thing about it."
The camp with continue through Thursday July 12 with a finale performance at 1 pm at Bay High. All friends and family are invited to attend.
