Talita MillsThe Panama City Police Department announces the arrest of Jeremy A. Hayse, 28 years of age and Hali M. Keen, 18 years of age, Amberline D. Thomas, 27 years of age, Ttilitha A. Mills, 28 years of age. Hayes was arrested at approximately 4:39 p.m., on July 10, 2012, following a traffic crash he fled from.
Three females passengers in the vehicle with Hayse also fled following the crash, they were arrested after being located a short distance away. A Panama City Police Officer attempted a traffic stop for traffic violations at W. Highway 98 and Chestnut Avenue on a 2004 silver/gray Infiniti. The vehicle accelerated and fled from the officer west on Hwy 98. The vehicle made several turns onto other streets in an attempt to elude the officer.
Within a minute or so after fleeing, the fleeing vehicle crashed into the rear of a 2010 red Lexus that was stopped at a traffic light, west bound on Hwy. 98 at Michigan Avenue. The occupants of the Lexus vehicle received possible minor injuries. Both vehicles were inoperable due to the crash. Hayse and all three passengers fled from the crash scene without checking on the occupants of the other vehicle.
Officers captured Hayes after a foot chase over fences and through yards. Witnesses to the crash pointed out to other responding officers where the three female passengers fled to and officers were able to locate them. Hayes was complaining to officers of injuries to his leg as a result of the crash and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation as officers stood by at the hospital. Hayes was medically cleared and transported to the Bay County Jail.
Hayes was charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude, resisting officers, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, driving on a suspended license, and false information to law enforcement during an investigation. Hayse also had outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Bay County for other driving charges. The three females were booked into the Bay County Jail and charged with resisting/obstruction of officers. Reports indicate the occupants of the Lexus vehicle are Santa Rosa Beach residents, Hayse is a local resident, Keen and Mills are Alabama residents, Thomas is a Georgia resident.
