
The Panama City Police Department announces the arrest of Corey D. Wakefield, 25 years of age. Wakefield was arrested at approximately 4:00 p.m., on July 10, 2012, for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Panama City Police Department's Special Operations Unit conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Dodge Charger for traffic violations near 17th and M.L.K. Wakefield was identified as the driver and Investigators could smell a strong odor of marijuana as they approached the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle investigators located approximately a ½ pound of marijuana, scales and plastic bags for weighing and packaging the marijuana. Investigators also located approximately $4,700.00 in cash.
Wakefield was arrested and booked into the Bay County Jail for the charges. The cash was seized under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act. The vehicle was identified as a rental vehicle and was towed from the scene at the request of the rental company.
