The Panama City Police Department announces the arrest of Justin R. Brown, 22 years of age. Brown was arrested at approximately 10:00 p.m., on July 10, 2012, for two counts of child abuse and violation of probation on a previous charge of resisting an officer.
The Panama City Police Department responded to a local residence on Buena Vista Boulevard after two unattended children were located in a dark bedroom. A family member that stopped by the residence found the children ages 1 ½ and 3 years of age. The family member found the children upset and crying in the dark bedroom with two small dogs and the door shut. Detectives who responded were told this is not the first time the children have been left alone.
Brown returned to the residence and stated he was the father/caregiver and put the children down for a nap before he went to a friend's house. The mother of the children was at work at the time of this incident.
Brown was arrested and booked into the Bay County Jail for the charges. The Florida Department of Children and Family's was contacted and will over see the children's care.
