Everyone has special secrets to a long healthy life, but one Panama City man tells us the key to reaching 100 years old.
Jake Adkins was born in Marianna in 1912. He grew up working on a farm, and remembers riding into Panama City in the 30's on a covered wagon to trade produce at St. Andrews.
Adkins says since around the age of 8 years old, he's been an avid dancer, enjoying round dance, square dance, and tap dance. Adkins has also taken up gardening and violin over the years.
Thursday night, the 55+ Club of Panama City held a 100th Birthday party for Mr. Adkins. To celebrate and show his health, Adkins tap danced in front of the crowd.
After a century of life, Adkins has seen five generations of his family, and says he's lived a very fulfilling life.
"I've always liked people, meeting people, and they've always liked me," says Adkins. "I try to treat others the way I want to be treated. I've had a good hundred years, to be honest with you, and I've been satisfied with everyone of them."
Adkins says he eats plenty of vegetables and he mainly drinks Pepsi, coffee and tea. He also says he has a bowl of Shredded Wheat every morning for breakfast.
