One man is dead, and another is in the Bay County jail after an early morning traffic crash in Panama City Beach.
It happened Panama City Beach Parkway just west of Gulf Boulevard at 3:18 a.m. Sunday.
According to police, Joseph Christopher Acoff was eastbound on the parkway in a 2004 Acura SUV when he collided with a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. Police said the Isuzu then crossed the median, overturned and rolled into the ditch on the north shoulder of the road.
Phillip Drozd, 22, of Panama City Beach was ejected from the Isuzu, police said. He was taken to Bay Medical Center and died a short time later.
Police said Acoff, 37, fled the scene but was apprehended. He has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death, failure to render aid at a traffic crash involving death, and failure to report a traffic crash.
Police said more charges are pending the outcome of their investigation.
