Glenn Hess is the Republican incumbent and he is being challenged by former State Attorney Jim Appleman. Here are some highlights from the Stump Speech at the First Friday Event.
Jim Appleman, Republican: "There are officers are out there on the street and their working to win the war on crime...but we're losing the battle in our courtrooms...and we need to get back in our courtrooms and win those battles in the courtroom. Officers seeing their cases dismissed, plea bargains are lost at trial. That has to stop.
Glenn Hess, Republican: "Four years ago I promised you I would build a better state attorney office. I've kept that promise. We've put together a winning team. Last year our prosecutors had the highest winning percentage in felony trials ever recorded in the circuit. We're not losing cases, we're winning them at a rate that's never been done before.
This is a universal race because there are no democrats running...so every registered voter can cast a ballot in the primary.
