The start of school is right around the corner, and the Bay County Health Department is making sure the kids are up to date with all of their vaccinations.
"It's the easiest and safest way for parents to be able to protect their children and other children in the community," says Sandon Speedling, the Clinic Director at the Bay County Health Department.
The Back to School Shot Clinic provides the required immunizations for student enrollment.
"It's a requirement. Florida law and statute requires that their children receive their necessary vaccines before they're admitted into the school district. That's why we're doing it here, and I think the time is good. We try to provide it 2-3 weeks before school starts," says Speedling.
For the parents, they say its the free, reliable service that makes it all worth while.
"It's really very convenient. Some families cant afford to get all the vaccines needed for childhood illnesses. I mean, if it were per shot you can imagine that will rack up pretty quick," says Melissa Wells, a mother taking her three children to get their shots.
The shot clinic will run August 6-10 and August 13-15. The times will be 8-11 AM and 1-3:30 PM.
