The Central Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross will be holding a volunteer recruitment event at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Chipley Florida. The event this Saturday, August 11th will be from 10am until 2pm. According to Bob Pearce, Red Cross Executive Director, the local Red Cross Chapter is looking for Washington County residents who would like to serve as Disaster Action Team members, shelter staff and logistics staff. Pearce goes on to say, "Washington County residents' helping each other is what it is all about. The Red Cross assists several fire victims each month in Washington County. That happens all year long. Now, we are in what has traditionally been our most active part of hurricane season. Shelter volunteers are vital to ensuring that Washington County residents have a safer place to go if they have to leave their homes."
