Second Victim of Lightning Strike Dies

The Bay County Sheriff's Office Announced today that Tristan Barger, age 14, passed away last night at about midnight at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola from injuries suffered from a lightning strike.

Barger and his step father were struck by lightning August 6, 2012, as they were trying to get back to their boat from the beach. The family of four was walking on the beach on the last day of their vacation when a storm hit the island. Barger and his stepfather, James Keith Brown, age 42, were both struck by lightning at the same time.

Brown was carrying Barger on his back due to the fact Barger had recently injured his ankle. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Barger was taken to Sacred Heart where he passed away last night.
