Today the halls and classrooms at Marianna High School were full as teachers prepared for the start of a new school year
Before teachers filed into classrooms, grouped by grade level and subject matter, they sat through a video about anti-bullying which featured Jackson County students. Meanwhile, teachers spent over an hour in the classroom learning more about Common Core standards. A reading coach at Cottondale High School says they are teaching the same materials...but in an effort to better follow the common core standards......their delivery method of that material will change.
Both teachers and support staff watched a14 minute video about bullying featuring Jackson County students. Superintendent of Jackson County Schools Lee Miller says every employee is responsible for making sure bullying does not happen.
Students will head back to the classroom in just a little over a week. School starts Monday, August 20th in Jackson County.
