One person is dead, and three others injured, after a boating accident in Choctawhatchee Bay off Destin.
According to Stan Kirkland of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the accident happened at about 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Crab Island.
Kirkland said the 30 foot powerboat was in Destin waters for the 20th annual Emerald Coast Poker Run when it crashed and threw the four occupants overboard. Three of the people were rescued a short time later. Kirkland said a man suffered minor injuries and two women sustained serious injuries.
Kirkland said the U.S. Coast Guard found the body of the fourth boater, a male, about two hours later. His body was turned over to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
The identities of the four boaters have not been released.
