The Florida Highway Patrol says two cars were west-bound in the inside lane of Back Beach Road when one car slammed into the rear of the another vehicle causing it to enter the grass median and overturn. 21-year-old Kerri Ann Hall of Ailey Georgia, a passenger in the car that was struck from behind, was killed. The driver, 30-year-old Tiffany Pruitt, also of Ailey, suffered serious injuries.
The man who allegedly caused the crash, 22-year-old Robert Michael Dick III of Panama City Beach, allegedly fled the scene on foot. Dick was later captured on Roy Williams road by Panama City Beach Police. Dick, who the FHP says was under the influence of alcohol, is charged with hit-and-run, vehicular homicide, and failure to remain at the scene of a crash involving death.
