Across the Panhandle, election officials put the finishing touches on polling precincts for Election Day. In Walton County, a week of early voting had people looking forward to Tuesday's results.
Some say Sunday is a day of rest, but not always during Election season.
"It's just a busy, busy time. You said we had a day off [Sunday].We worked [Sunday]," said Walton County Supervisor of Elections, Bobby Beasley.
And the work continued for Beasley and staff on Monday.
With 24 hours to go until the big day, Beasley juggled phone calls and tallying up early and absentee ballots.
"3600 to 3800 voters will be voted before election day," said Beasley.
This, from the nearly 37000 registered voters in the county.
That's about average said Beasley, but he's hoping for more than the expected 30 percent turn out on Tuesday.
"You know, we think democracy works best when people participate," said Beasley.
Once early voting was over, election officials were busy setting up polling precincts in areas across Walton County in preparation for the big day. There's a lot more that goes into it than you might think.
"The work really starts months ahead of time. We've actually already started work on the general as well. They overlap each other," said Voter Technician, Ryan Messer.
Working their second to last precinct set up on Monday, Messer and partner, Brandon Rose had it down to a science.
Boxes? Check.
Voting Booths? Check.
Cones and Signs? Check and check.
It's a lot of work to make things go off without a hitch on Election Day.
"I mean, it gets hectic, it gets busy during election time. It's a lot of work. We've been working everyday for the past two weeks I think, but it's worth it," said Messer.
For Messer, it gets down to one thing…
"I love elections, I guess," he laughed.
