On August 13 at approximately 7:50 p.m. the Chipley Police Department was dispatched to the Applefields store located on Main Street in reference to an armed robbery.

Once on scene the store's clerk stated that a white male came into the store and produced a knife and demanded money and cigarettes. The clerk gave the robber the money and cigarettes and at that point the robber fled the store on foot.

A few minutes later officers encountered two subjects at the Super 8 Motel. One subject fled into a wooded area and the other subject was detained. With the assistance of the Washington County Sheriff's Dept., the K-9 Team from the Northwest Florida Reception Center and the Florida Highway Patrol, we were able to apprehend the second suspect at approximately 2:00 a.m.

The first suspect detained was Alton Linsey Thodos, 26 years of age from Jacksonville. This subject was also wanted by the United States Marshalls Service to be extradited back to Washington, D.C.  Thodos is charged with armed robbery accessory after the fact. At approximately 2:00 a.m. we arrested Zachary Tyler Arnold, 20 years of age also of Jacksonville. Arnold is charged with armed robbery.
