
The Bay County Sheriff's Office responded to the 8900 block of Firebird Lane, Youngstown, last evening at about 10:45 in response to an aggravated battery call. Deputies arrived to find a woman lying in the roadway with several people gathered around. EMS was called to the scene.
The victim had a puncture wound around the left shoulder blade and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. According to statements from witnesses, the victim and a friend of the suspect had been involved in an argument all evening by text and phone call. The suspect, identified as Jamie Lee Sawyer, her friend involved in the argument, and a group of their friends went to the victim's home to confront her. The witnesses stated that when they all arrived at the victim's home, her parents came out to demand they all leave. Witnesses stated they did move down the road, but the victim, followed by her mother, chased after the group and reinitiated the argument. At that time, according to Sawyer, she warned the victim to back away or she would stab her. After that, Sawyer allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife.
BCSO Criminal Investigations was called to the scene to begin the investigation. Deputies were able to locate the suspect Jamie Lee Sawyer, DOB 2/11/97, of 8920 Stork Lane, Youngstown.
After speaking with Sawyer, investigators arrested her and charged her with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Sawyer, a juvenile, was taken to DJJ.
