Woman Held on Child Abuse Charges

Posted: Updated:

The Bay County Sheriff's Office has arrested a local woman after allegedly causing serious injury to an infant in her care.

On Friday, August 17, investigators with the BCSO Criminal Investigations Division responded to a local hospital in reference to an injured 7 week old infant.

The infant had been in the care of Kaley Marie Garmon, DOB 10-28-91, of 1721 Erno Street, Lynn Haven. Garmon initially stated she did not know how the child came to be injured, then advised investigators the child had been injured when a large dog in the home jumped into the "Pack-and-Play" where the child slept.

A witness in the home stated she observed the door to the room the infant slept in closed the night the injury occurred and that the dog in the home was outside the room. When confronted with this information, Garmon admitted to becoming frustrated with the infant during the night and forcefully jerking the baby's clothes off and that she "didn't put (the baby) in easily" when she placed the infant into the "Pack and Play".

Garmon was arrested and charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and transported to the Bay County Jail.
