Diabetes Self-Management Class Scheduled

The first in a series of free diabetes self-management classes – What is Diabetes, Anyway? – is being offered at the Bay County Health Department from 5:45 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012.  The class will be facilitated by a Certified Diabetes Educator and is appropriate for people with diabetes as well as their caretakers and family members.  Through group discussion, participants will learn the answers to these and many other questions: 

  • How does the body normally control blood glucose?    
  • How and why did I get diabetes?
  • What's the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes?   
  • What is prediabetes?
  • Will I always have diabetes?

The class will meet in the auditorium at the Bay County Health Department, 597 W. 11th Street, Panama City, FL 32401.  The class is free and open to the public.  Please call Lisa Rahn at (850) 872-4455 Ext. 1344 or email her at lisa_rahn@doh.state.fl.us to preregister.
