All schools in Holmes County will be closed on Tuesday, Aug. 28th due to Tropical Storm Isaac. All county offices in Holmes County will be open

Holmes County Emergency Operations (EOC) is currently at a Level 2 activation status. As of 2:30 p.m., the following information was provided:
- Holmes County is under a flash flood watch from 8/27/12 until 8 a.m. on 8/28/12
- Currently the storm is tracking to make landfall somewhere near or around New Orleans, LA
- Winds from this storm currently extend approximately 200 miles from the center
- The first bands from the storm are headed out way with more organized movement than yesterday
- Wind conditions are presently gusting up to approximately 15 mph
- Holmes County could expect sustained winds from 25-35 mph with gusts of 45 mph with a threat of tornadoes
- Rain totals for Holmes County are anticipated to be in the neighborhood of 2-4 inches
- Holmes County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Aug. 28
- Government/County offices will be open
- Residents who live in low lying flood prone areas should take all necessary precautions with personal property, livestock and pets in rising waters if you are in these flood prone areas.
