Wednesday, fire fighters responded to an air conditioning fire at a Bay County condo.

According to Bay County Fire Department, around 8 pm the air conditioning unit of the unit 3 Harbor Villas Condo near Bay Point apparently caught fire.

The smoke and flames alerted residents to call 911.

Fire crews were able to put out the blaze in a short time, but they did have to access attic space via chainsaw to ensure that all flames were out.

Battalion Chief Marcus Vigil and witnesses credited the fast action of the fire department in keeping everyone safe with minimal damage to the residence.

Chief Vigil said the damage was contained to the roof and attic, with the exception of some water in one of the upstairs units.
